  SLITHM Invites Applications for Certificates Level Courses in Hospitality
 
Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) invites applications for certificates level courses commencing July 2013. These certificate level courses include Hotel Reception, Professional Cookery, Restaurant & Bar Service and Hotel Housekeeping. The applicants in Sabaragamuwa Province should forward their applications to SLITHM Sabaragamuwa College, on or before June 14, 2013.

  SIRIPADA SEASON

Sri Pada is the only mountains in the world where four major religions get together and worship. To the Buddhist, the imprint found on the summit of the mountain is the hallowed footprint of the Lord Buddha hence the Name ?SriPada?. To the Hindus, the footprint is that of God Shiva. To the Christians, it is the footprint of St. Thomas, and to the Islam, it?s the foot print of Adam, hence the title ?Adam?s peak?.

 
     
  New Access to Udawalawe National Park (West)
   
  A new access from Weligepola, Handagiriya to the Udawalawe National Park (West) is being developed by the Ministry of Tourism of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council (SPC) in collaboration with the Dept. of Wildlife Conservation. Hon Athula Rahubaddha, the Minister of Tourism, SPC and other relevant officers visited the site on May 19, 2012 to review the progress of development. The Minister Rahubaddha advised to take necessary steps to complete the all construction work and open it for visitors as soon as possible.
